About Us
Being A Catalyst To Build A Community Of Love & Health In Vietnam.
Who We Are
Introduction
The founders of We Bloom worked with nonprofit organizations in the US for several years before they started a 2-year adventure in Vietnam – an adventure that called them to leave their jobs and volunteer for a budding drowning prevention program (Swim for Life, Golden West) in the central part of the country (Quang Binh Province). Here they experienced first-hand the power and impact of partnership and mutual learning. Co-creating the program reinforced the understanding that communities simply need the resources and opportunity to address barriers in their own unique and perfect way. They soon recognized a passion for the larger work of developing and supporting leadership structure, national policy, key stakeholder groups and collaboration, which led them to start We Bloom.
WE BLOOM is an American nonprofit organization inspired by the belief that every member of a community can thrive when given access to resources and knowledge, adapted to their environment. Our vision, therefore, is that every community will create optimal conditions for all members to bloom. Our desire is to empower communities through providing training, networks, resources and fundraising in the areas of public health and education.
One of the most successful projects we have implemented so far is the Recovery Café Indiana Initiative. This is a membership- based community meant to bring together those who have struggled with substance use, mental illness, grief, trauma, domestic violence and homelessness to help them make the shift from surviving to thriving! The Recovery Cafe is peer-led to help drive relationships and lasting support systems, so members can continue to work on themselves as a whole person! All pathways to recovery are welcomed and there is no membership fee.
As the Co-founder and Executive Director of We Bloom, Beth Kreitl is passionate about uplifting communities through training, education and access. At her core, she believes communities can be empowered when individuals harness their own authentic power. As such she works with individuals through her counseling private practice and serves the broader local and global community as co-founder and Executive Director of We Bloom. For as long as she can remember Beth has been drawn and committed to psychology, spirituality, self-growth, and deeply connecting. She wove these interests into her life from the time she was a child and has seen the fruits of pursuing a journey that focuses on interior freedom alongside outer purpose. Along the way she has been fortunate to pursue various experiences, education, and certifications. She worked in the corporate, higher ed and nonprofit sectors. Most recently she served as Co-Director of Swim for Life Vietnam, which provides training to help children prevent drowning in Quang Binh, Vietnam. Prior to that she served as Executive Director of Career Services at Seattle University following her time at Indiana University where she was the Associate Director of Student Services. Beth also teaches yoga and facilitates workshops and retreats. She earned her B.A. in French and International Business at High Point University and her M.S./Ed.S. in School and Counseling Psychology at Indiana University. She is a licensed mental health counselor, as well as a licensed teacher of swimming and water safety.
From our global work in Vietnam to our community work in Indiana, our focus surrounds mental health, drowning prevention and our recovery initiative. Our approach strives to lift up existing partners including: local and international nonprofits, faith communities, universities, government agencies, and private organizations. We do this through developing mutually beneficial collaborations in which we learn and grow together.
We Bloom has made significant contributions to help multiple communities, particularly those in Central Vietnam, by providing training and financial support. Through out "move & groove" campaign,, we are raising $20,000 to improve the learning environment for 109 disabled students that live and learn in Quang Trach, Quang Binh, Vietnam. In addition, over the past few years, Central Vietnam has suffered record-breaking loss and damages due to multiple storms and massive flooding. Our US team is provided a $5,000 matching donation and is seeking support from family, friends and colleagues to raise the additional $5,000. Furthermore, The We Bloom Vietnam team worked with local partners and friends to ensure the support is delivered to the most vulnerable children and their families in the areas most affected by the flooding in Central Vietnam. On top of that, during the COVID-19 pandemic, $15,000+ was raised to help the most vulnerable people in Vietnam affected by the virus and economic fallout.
What we have done so far in Vietnam shows our efforts to join hands with Vietnamese communities to deal with different challenges and thrive together. We are looking forward to working with Vietnamese government agencies, private partners, and local volunteers to accomplish our mission.
